MHB glazed wall system for fall-through protection
MHB · Fall-through protection glazed walls

MHB glazed walls for fall-through protection, where openness and safety need to work together.

Steel-framed glazed systems for projects where large areas of glass need to respond to defined impact or fall-through protection requirements. Royal Design Marbella represents MHB across the Costa del Sol and helps project teams review the brief, available drawings and the appropriate MHB route.

Large areas of glass can preserve openness while responding to defined protection requirements.

Fall-through protection becomes relevant where people may come into direct contact with large glazed surfaces and the project requires the opening to respond to impact or fall-through risk.

The appropriate route depends on the actual project: the location of the glazing, the way the space is used and the protection requirements that need to be reviewed.

Protection is not defined by the appearance of the glass. It is defined by the project requirement.

The current information for this MHB route describes glazed walls that are engineered and tested according to project-specific requirements.

The useful starting point is therefore the real opening, its location and use, the available drawings and the protection requirements already defined for the project.

The applicable solution, glazing and project requirements should be reviewed for the individual configuration.

Safety glazing

The glazing needs to respond to the way the opening is expected to perform.

The current route identifies two safety-glazing approaches. The relevant choice depends on the project and should be considered as part of the complete glazed wall configuration.

01

Laminated glass

A PVB interlayer helps retain the glass after impact, supporting configurations where reducing the risk of fall-through is part of the project requirement.

02

Toughened glass

This route is intended to reduce injury risk through the way the glass behaves if breakage occurs. Its suitability should be reviewed for the individual application.

Architectural integration

Protection should not make the glazed wall feel detached from the architecture.

Steel lines, glass, proportion and the required protection need to be considered as one composition. The objective is to maintain the transparency of the opening while reviewing the system against the actual project requirement.

The protection requirement should be resolved without losing the openness and visual continuity of the space.

From requirement to system conversation

Start with the glazed opening. Then review the protection route.

Royal Design Marbella represents MHB across the Costa del Sol, helping architects, designers and project teams review available project information and coordinate relevant drawings, quotations and technical conversations. The exact execution route depends on the system, project and MHB process.

01

Share the project context

Provide the available drawings, opening information, location and protection requirements currently defined for the project.

02

Review the MHB route

The available information is reviewed to help identify the relevant system conversation and any further details required.

03

Coordinate the next information

Drawings, quotations and relevant technical conversations can then be coordinated according to the project and applicable MHB process.
