VAN GOGH MUSEUM

This Van Gogh Museum project marks the creation of a new entrance building designed to enhance light, openness, and public accessibility. Originally conceived by Kisho Kurokawa Architects & Associates and later developed and realised by Hans van Heeswijk Architecten, the extension of the museum’s elliptical wing introduces a striking contemporary architectural gesture. A fully glazed roof structure was installed above the existing sunken pond, transforming what was once a dark and overlooked section of Museumplein into a luminous underground foyer. The intervention creates a welcoming and transparent public space while maintaining a respectful dialogue with the museum’s historic identity.

The project incorporates ultra-slim SL30-ISO® steel and glass systems, ensuring maximum transparency, durability, and refined detailing. The seamless integration of modern architecture within a world-renowned cultural institution demonstrates how advanced steel systems can elevate both performance and spatial experience.
